Attend A Health Care Reform Vigil Wednesday 9/2/9
Do you support health care reform? If so then you should attend a health care reform vigil Wednesday night (they are being held at locations all around the country.)
It’s simple. You just put your zip code in and look for a vigil to attend in your area. If there’s not already one then you can actually create your own.
Three Reasons To Support Health Care Reform
(1.) The current US health care system is a disaster. It ranks #37 in the world in health care results and the US ranks #50 in life expectancy.
(2.) 62% of the bankruptcies in America are due to medical expenses and 78% of the people who go bankrupt due medical expenses had private health insurance. That statistic should put a chill down your spine.
If you have private health insurance and you think you’re secure, think again. Your insurance company will do everything they can to screw you over if you get seriously sick or injured. This is why health care reform is not just about those who don’t have health insurance, it’s just as much about those who do not.
(3.) Over 18,000 Americans die every year due to lack of health care coverage. We already have “rationing” and “death panels” in the United States. The private health insurance companies ration care based on their profits not on the needs of the sick.
As far as “death panels” go, please read that first line again. Right now 18,000 Americans are dying every year because of the system as is. How can anyone support keeping a system like that? This is a moral issue. Those against health care reform are OK with thousands of their fellow US citizens dying due to insufficient health care coverage.
What You Can Do To Support Health Care Reform
(1.) Sign up with StandWithDrDean.com (sign the petition.)
(2.) Sign up with HealthCareForAmericaNow.org – There you will find lots of information about this issue and what you can do to help.
(3.) Write your Congressman & your Senators. Tell them that you demand that they support real health care reform (including the public option which is an absolutely essential part of this health care reform.)
(4.) Write a “letter to the editor” to your local newspaper in favor of health care reform. I recommend citing the statistics above (particularly this: 18,000 US citizens die every year due to lack of health care coverage.)
(5.) If you’re reading this in time, attend a health care vigil on 9/2/9!
