Is The Bush Recession Turning Into The Bush Depression?
I think it’s becoming clear that as bad a job as everyone knew George W. Bush did as President, most people still underestimated the damage he did to this country. The economic disaster that Bush has left behind is evidence that politics matter.
Today the stock market dropped under 7000 for the first time since 1997 and there’s a good shot that we’re still not near the bottom.
Think about that. The stock market is now lower than it was 12 years ago. When you add in inflation you can see that the economy has truly crashed through the floor.
I do not mean to be doom & gloom in this post. Only to be realistic. I do have great hope that we can turn this country around. It will probably not be any time soon. An economic recovery in 2010 or 2011 may be the absolute best we can hope for.
But I feel it is necessary to remind everyone of why we are in this mess in the first place. If you voted for GeorgeĀ W. Bush you should be ashamed of yourself. You really should. I know nobody likes to hear “I told you so” but for God’s sake: I TOLD YOU SO. Electing a moron to a position with that much power is just absolutely not acceptable. (And don’t come back with Sarah “airhead” Palin in 2012, thanks but no thanks. )
