The next new Supreme Court justice will be Sonia Sotomayor.

She appears to be an excellent choice as President Obama’s first SC pick. Not only is clearly intellectually gifted (she was 2nd in her class at Princeton) but she has more federal judicial experience than any other Supreme Court nominee in the last 100 years.

While the right wing hatemongers (Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gingrich, Fox News) have tried to deride her with their racist anti-Hispaic and sexist anti-woman rhetoric – It doesn’t appear that she will have any real trouble being confirmed by the Senate and becoming the first Hispanic Supreme Court justice in history.
