The US Needs Health Care Reform
Right now the private health insurance companies and the politicians they have bought off (almost all of the Republican party and too much of the Democratic party) are doing everything they can to kill President Obama’s attempts to reform the disastrous US health care system.
Despite being the wealthiest nation in the world and spending more money on health care per person than any other country, the US ranks just 72nd in the overall health of it’s citizens. That’s where our current system has got us.
Anyone who makes the ridiculous claim that the US has the best health care system in the world is either lying or ignorant.
Anyone who says that “national health care” is some dangerous new idea that has never been successfully implemented before is either lying or ignorant. All of the countries that rank ahead of the US in health care have some form of a universal health care system. France, which ranks #1, has had a public health care system since 1945.
It’s time to put the lies and the BS politics behind us. Call your Senators and your Congressman and let them know it’s time for real health care reform. It’s time for single-payer national health care. And if we can’t get that, at least we need the public option (which is a compromise solution which allows those who want to keep their current private health insurance that option.)
